Sham Ramnarain
Founder & CEO
Sham Ramnarain is a key figure in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar energy and energy storage since 2008. Starting his entrepreneurial journey at 17, he has founded several successful startups. Known for his strong business insight and innovation, Sham leads teams effectively, contributing significantly to the renewable energy field through multiple patents and collaborations.Currently, he leads BlackTeal Energy, specializing in OEM replacements. Outside work, Sham is family-oriented and an avid reader, using these interests to enhance his professional strategies. His unique blend of personal and professional passions continues to influence the renewable energy industry.

Derek Chung
Co-Founder & CBO
As a seasoned expert in the energy storage sector, Derek's 8-year energy storage career started in the field commissioning 30kW EV to leading 1GWh in utility-scale systems design, contractual technical review, and project engineering. He has helped multiple companies penetrate new markets with his core competency in power systems engineering mixed with an innate ability for techno-economic analysis.By leading and bringing over 55 commercial site projects to operation from GreenCharge Networks, managing end-to-end technical aspects over 10 utility-scale projects totaling 2.5 GWh ($500M+ ) including Hawaii's first utility-scale solar plus energy storage project, Derek pushes the boundaries of what is possible in a growth company.

Sunny Rahul
Co-Founder and COO
With vast experience in field operations, sales, and product testing, Sunny Rahul transitioned to renewable energy in 2019. He co-founded BlackTeal Energy Inc. in 2021, focusing on energy storage project sites and utility-scale power.
As Chief Operations Officer, Sunny was instrumental in establishing an Energy Storage service team by 2022, quickly leading the company to profitability within six months. He also played a key role in expanding the field service department and understanding the domestic supply chain for energy storage battery modules.
Sunny's leadership has helped BlackTeal Energy develop a domestic supply chain for OEM Energy Storage Battery Modules, specializing in utility-scale stationary storage and EV battery modules, setting the strategic direction for the company.

Shyam Desigan
CFO
Shyam Desigan has 20 years of successful leadership experience in Corporate Finance, Capital Investments and fundraising for high-growth and mid-sized businesses as well as turnaround/restructuring situations. He has a diverse industry background, including Private Equity, Healthcare & Technology. Shyam is well versed in debt restructurings as well as equity raises - from Seed to Series B financing. In addition, Shyam has deep investor connections within Technology and Mining space.
Shyam has an MBA in Finance and has worked with a number of early-stage ventures globally and helped them tap North American capital markets.

James Leng
Head of Marketing and Design
James brings a diverse skill set to the role of Head of Marketing and Design at BlackTeal Energy. Known for his versatile skills in product design and consulting, James spearheads all visual and storytelling elements. He leads content creation, marketing strategies, product launches, and branding initiatives.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from California College of the Arts and is committed to continuous learning, with interests spanning philosophy, the arts, and business.
Beyond his professional commitments, James is passionate about the outdoors and is often found mountain biking or hiking in his free time. His enthusiasm and charisma significantly contribute to his leadership style and personal pursuits.

CTO
Scott is an accomplished, results-driven professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, specializing in energy storage, power systems, electrification, and e-mobility. He excels in driving sustainable growth, leading global teams, and fostering strategic partnerships. With a proven track record in developing innovative solutions, expanding company capabilities, and generating substantial business value, Scott is proficient in market analysis, strategic planning, and technology integration. He is committed to leveraging his expertise in innovation, product development, climate science, and policy to achieve meaningful change on a global scale.
Scott holds a Master of Business Administration from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, as well as a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
